Thank you for your interest in the British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships - OnBoard fleet, which will be held at Grafham Water Centre on 25th & 26th September 2021.
The OnBoard fleet is an ‘event within an event’ as part of the regional end-of-season celebration of all junior sailing. Its aim is to give OnBoard sailors their first taste of travelling to an event, sailing at a different location and having fun whilst making new friends and learning new skills. This fleet will be hosted by qualified RYA instructors and will focus around 'games with aims' rather than racing, where prizes are awarded in line with the OnBoard character attributes, such as displaying teamwork, determination and communication. Boats are available for those who cannot bring thier own.
Sailors must be aged 8 to 13 to enter this fleet, and they must have a minimum sailing standard of RYA Stage 2. RYA Stage 2 requires the ability to tack, control speed, recover a capsize, leave and return from the shore/pontoon and understand the five essentials.
