Event Safety Management Course Booking Form

 

Date: 3 consecutive Tuesday evenings on the 13th, 20th & 27th January 2026.

Location: Zoom 

Time: 18:30 - 20:30 (Please make sure to join each session at least 10 minutes before the start time to ensure the course can begin promptly at 18:30)  

 

Course Instructors: Alan Williams 

 The course will cover all aspects of non-water event safety management such as: 
 

  • Responsibilities of the Organising Authority
  • Compiling an event risk assessment & implementing control measures
  • Producing an Event Safety Management Plan
  • Contingency planning
  • Tactical positioning of the safety fleet  


The course has been developed by the RYA based on our experience of hosting numerous World Class Events over a number of years and across a wide range of classes and will provide participants with the tools required to implement the latest procedures and planning necessary to make sure they are running a safe, as well as, successful event.

 

Whilst primarily focused towards major championships or large open meetings the principles apply equally to local regattas or club racing and will therefore be valuable for the following potential attendees:

  • Club Sailing Secretaries
  • Club Safety Officers
  • Race Officers
  • Event Safety Officers
  • Course Safety Leaders
  • Anyone with an interest in or responsibility for on-water safety management of a racing event

 

As this course will be delivered via Zoom, please make sure to join using either a laptop/computer or tablet with a working camera, microphone, and a good internet connection.

Cancellation Policy

Payment: The full course fee is payable at the time of the booking.  A space on the course will only be confirmed once you have completed the online booking form and paid the fee. We do not accept provisional bookings. 

Cancellation by the applicant: If less than 2 weeks notice is given, that you are unable to attend the course, you will unfortunately not receive a refund. However, if we are able to replace your booking on the course, then we will offer you a refund, or transfer you to an alternative course.  

Cancellation by the RYA: The full course fee, including any deposit will be returned. The RYA will not be liable under any circumstances for any cost or loss incurred as a result of its failure to conduct a particular course. The RYA reserves the right to cancel any course in the event of bad weather, equipment failure or otherwise. 

Acceptance of booking conditions: By completing an online booking form for this course, you are confirming that you have read and accept these booking conditions.
