  • I have read and agree to abide by the RYA Instructor Code of Conduct. I acknowledge that failing to abide by the RYA Instructor Code of Conduct, or otherwise engaging in behaviour that falls below the standard expected of an RYA instructor or risk bringing the RYA into disrepute, may result in the withdrawal of my RYA instructor qualifications.
  • I confirm that for my instructor qualification to be valid that I must hold a First Aid certificate that meets the minimum requirements as stated on the RYA website.
  • I recognise that RYA Training is delivered in English other than at those centres specifically recognised to teach in Mandarin.
  • I understand that in my capacity as an instructor I must be able to effectively deliver the relevant syllabus and to look after the safety of my students. Accordingly, I confirm that at all times I can:
  1. Communicate effectively with students, other water users and the centre.
  2. Recover other craft.
  3. Recover a person from the water without assistance.
  4. Keep an effective lookout by sight and sound and monitor the safety the vessel and crew.
  5. Operate a powered craft independently.

If for any reason, health or otherwise, I believe I may require support to fulfil the requirements above I have provided further details in the box at the bottom of this page. I recognise that this information will be used by the RYA to consider what reasonable adjustments may be needed for me to instruct. I recognise that adjustments identified on the training course may be taken into account.

I undertake to:

1. Inform the RYA if my situation in relation to the above requirements changes on a permanent or temporary basis.

2. Submit a health questionnaire to be reviewed by the RYA doctor, in some circumstances a medical assessment may also be required.

Course Booking Terms and Conditions

The course trainer can exclude a candidate from a session or from the course if they refuse to follow the reasonable directions of the course trainer, misconduct themselves or cause damage or annoyance to other persons.

Boating is by nature an unpredictable activity and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By participating in this course you agree and acknowledge that: 

• You are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the activity and you accept responsibility for exposing yourself to such inherent risks while participating in the course. 
• You will comply at all times with the instructions of the RYA appointed course trainers. 
• You accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by your own negligence. 
• You will not participate in a course while your ability to skipper or crew is impaired by alcohol or drugs or while otherwise unfit to participate.

You are willing to comply with all safety requirements.

Payment: Full payment for the course must be made at the time of booking. 

 

Cancellation policy

Cancellation by the applicant:
 

If you cancel the course you will be subject to the following conditions;

More than 8 weeks notice:

·         A £30 admin charge will be taken from your payment and the rest refunded.

·    Less than 8 weeks and more than 4 weeks notice:

·         If the course can be resold a £30 admin charge will be taken from your payment and the rest refunded.

·         If the course cannot be resold the RYA will retain 25% of the total course cost, the rest will be refunded, refunds will be processed after reselling the place or the start of the course, whichever comes first.

Less than 4 weeks notice:

·         If the course can be resold a £30 admin charge will be taken from your payment and the rest refunded. Refunds will be processed after reselling the place or the start of the course, whichever comes first.

·         If the course cannot be resold the RYA will retain 100% of the course cost no refund will be available.

Cancellation by the RYA: The full course fee will be returned. The RYA will not be liable under any circumstances for any cost or loss incurred as a result of its failure to conduct a particular course. The RYA reserves the right to cancel any course in the event of bad weather, insufficient number of delegates, equipment failure or otherwise.
