RYA Dinghy Instructor Course
Pre Entry Couse - 6th October 2019 Course - 29th October - 2nd November 2019

Thank you for you interest in this course.


This course will provide training in teaching techniques afloat and ashore and will be run by an RYA Coach/Assessor and moderated on the final day by another RYA Coach/Assessor who has not been involved in the candidate's training. Candidates will be required to demonstrate competence in course preparation, delivery and management, as well as customer liaison.

Candidates must have the following pre-requisites; 

Pre-Requisites:

  • Minimum of 16 years old
  • Hold a valid first aid certificate
  • Hold an RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate
  • Hold the RYA Safe and Fun certificate by completing the RYA Interactive online course

You will be contacted by the course organiser with the course preparation materials at least two weeks before the start of the course.

Risk Statement

It must be recognised that sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the training, you agree and acknowledge that:
(i) You are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and you accept responsibility exposing yourself to such inherent risk whilst taking part in Training
(ii) You will comply at all times with the instruction of the workshop co-ordinator and particularly with regard to handling of boats, wearing of buoyancy aids and the wearing of suitable clothing for the conditions;
(iii) You accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by your own negligence;
(iv) You will not participate in the Workplace Sailing Challenge whilst your ability to skipper or crew a dinghy, windsurfer or powerboat is impaired by alcohol, drugs or whilst otherwise unfit to participate
(v) The provision of safety boat cover is limited to such assistance, as can be practically provided in the circumstances
(vi) You are aware of any specific risks drawn to your attention by the training coordinator.
