About the course:

The National Race Officer course is suitable for experienced Regional Race Officers who are ready to take the next step in expanding their knowledge and experience in Race Management to work towards becoming a National Level. You will need to be confident with the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028 and be familiar with the Race Management Guide.

There will also be a pre-course quiz that must be completed before your place on the course is confirmed. At the end of the course, you will also complete an exam, where 75% is the pass mark. This exam result and course attendance will fulfil one of the requirements to be appointed as an RYA National Race Officer. The other NRO requirements can be found on our website.

Cancellation Policy

Payment: The full course fee is payable at the time of the booking. A space on the course will only be confirmed once you have completed the online booking form and paid the fee. We do not accept provisional bookings.

Cancellation by the applicant: If less than 2 weeks notice is given, that you are unable to attend the course, you will unfortunately not receive a refund. However, if we are able to replace your booking on the course, then we will offer you a refund, or transfer you to an alternative course.

Cancellation by the RYA: The full course fee, including any deposit will be returned. The RYA will not be liable under any circumstances for any cost or loss incurred as a result of its failure to conduct a particular course. The RYA reserves the right to cancel any course in the event of bad weather, equipment failure or otherwise.
