Registration for the RYA Regional Judges Course delivered via Zoom

Option 1: 
Dates:  Wednesday Evenings, starting on 17th November, 24th November and 1st December  2021

Time:  19.00 - 21.00

Instructors: Chris Atkins

Number of sessions: Three evening sessions, to be delivered via Zoom. The course will be limited to 12 attendees. 

 

Option 2:  Online sessions for those based in the RYA  North regions with priority.

Course Infomation

The focus of the RJ course is on how to conduct sailing hearings, of the type that are typically encountered at club and local events, in a fair and correct manner. You will need a good grasp of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) – roughly to the level expected of a strong club racer as it’s designed to help participants be at that level of knowledge. 

 

Pre Course Quiz

To help you get the most out of this course you will be required to complete a pre-course Racing Rules of Sailing Quiz alongside reading materials. This will be sent to you two weeks before the course start date and it will take 40-80 minutes to complete. 

 

Attendance on the course meets one requirement for an appointment as an RYA Regional Judge. The other requirements are to pass the RYA's Regional Judge test (which covers rules and hearings), and to be a judge at two events and four hearings, supported by a satisfactory reference from a qualified judge. Please see the RYA website for information. 

 

There will be more information, including the joining instructions for Zoom, sent at least two weeks before the course.

Cancellation Policy

Payment: The full course fee is payable at the time of the booking.  A space on the course will only be confirmed once you have completed the online booking form and paid the fee. We do not accept provisional bookings. 

Cancellation by the applicant: If less than 2 weeks notice is given, that you are unable to attend the course, you will unfortunately not receive a refund. However, if we are able to replace your booking on the course, then we will offer you a refund, or transfer you to an alternative course.  

Cancellation by the RYA: The full course fee, including any deposit will be returned. The RYA will not be liable under any circumstances for any cost or loss incurred as a result of its failure to conduct a particular course. The RYA reserves the right to cancel any course in the event of bad weather, equipment failure or otherwise.
