Aim:
The Aspirant Senior Instructor Academy aims to support and encourage currently qualified RYA instructors to progress to the role of Senior Instructor. This initiative will provide guidance, mentoring, and development to help instructors enhance their skills, gain confidence, and feel more equipped to take part in the RYA Senior Instructor when they feel ready.
Measures of success:
1. Supporting qualified RYA instructors in their journey to becoming Senior Instructors.
2. Provide resources, mentorship and development in a safe and inclusive environment.
Who:
Current RYA Instructors who are interested in working towards becoming an RYA instructor.
How:
This will be delivered over 2 online training sessions delivered by RYA Trainers. Each session will last approximately 45 minutes and have some interaction. After the second session participants will be signposted to sessions run through their individual regions which support the online sessions. This will look different in each region.
Session 1: 7pm on Wednesday 21st January.
The Role of a Senior Instructor – Overview of the Senior Instructor responsibilities including busting myths around the role, key competencies, and expectations of the course.
Session 2: 7pm on Wednesday 28th January.
A Senior Instructor is a Role Model Instructor: This session will explore how being a role model Dinghy Instructor positively impacts the ability to carry out the role of a Senior Instructor. This session will help participants reflect on the qualities and behaviours that make them a strong instructor and how these attributes and experience support them in the Senior Instructor role.
