Thank you for your interest in the RYA South West Dinghy Senior Instructor Course.
This is the course to take to develop your skills from an RYA Dinghy Instructor to RYA Senior Instructor.
The 4-day course will cover; the role of a Senior Instructor, preparation and delivery of sessions, course and centre management, powerboat handling in a teaching environment and the RYA Sailing Schemes.
Costs for this course is £260
Candidates must first be an RYA Dinghy Instructor and must fulfil the following criteria prior to the Senior Instructor course
- RYA Member
- Over the age of 18
- At least two years intermittent or one year full time instructing since qualifying as an RYA Dinghy Instructor
- Valid First Aid qualification
- Powerboat Level 2
- Safety Boat certificate
- RYA Safe and Fun safeguarding certificate
- Completed RYA Senior Instructor workbook
- Recommendation from RYA Principal
You will be assessed on a continual basis over the 4 days when running water-based simulated group management sessions.
On completion of this course you will be able to:
- Organise and manage RYA National Sailing Scheme and Youth Sailing Scheme sailing courses.
- Organise and control group sailing tuition of all ages and abilities.
- Supervising, direction and assisting a team of Instructors and Assistant Instructors.
You will be contacted by the course organiser with the course preparation materials at least two weeks before the start of the course.
